Nice 'n' Normal

Just a quick post to say how lovely it was to be able to enjoy and almost completely 'normal' Sunday today. Owner and i got up quite late for us (7.30am) and then, after a relaxed morning, we pootled off into town for a brief walk along the Thames and then lunch (Thai curries followed by cake).

It has been a while since we spent a Sunday doing what we always used to do on Sundays in pre-pandemic times - it was lovely. Town was busy with visitors and tourists, the sun was out and it was weirdly on the mild side for the end of January.

Any other time this would have been a quite unremarkable day - which is why i think it felt so lovely!

Days Out

It is a bank holiday weekend here in England and Owner and i have been enjoying a couple of days out and about in London. Yesterday we went down to the London Wetland Centre (no, not that kind of wet...naughty!) in West London. It is a former water works turned into a nature reserve. It is well worth a visit and we usually pop down a couple of times a year. It is especially good if you are interested in birds (the feathered variety) as they always have plenty to see.

This year, however, we also witnessed one of the natural world's less pleasant sights. We were both looking at a family of moorhens on the water complete with three tiny little baby moorhens - that looked liked floating black fuzz balls. All very cute and adorable. Suddenly a gull swept down, grabbed one of the baby moorhens in its beak and flew off with it, much to mother moorhen's distress. So then there were just two baby moorhens left.

Today we visited a South American restaurant called Paladar near the Elephant & Castle in South London. It serves Latin American food and is entirely gluten-free. We booked for lunch and reserved a table in its adorable little outdoor terrace.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the waiter with a cheerful 'hello ladies' - it is not often i get referred to as a 'lady'! He then repeated his statement a few minutes later, such a charmer! Anyway, the food was delicious and Owner even permitted me to have a beer. We would both highly recommend the place if ever you are in this part of town.

me being ladylike with my cerveza :)

It is proving a very relaxed and lazy weekend for us both. We'll be watching a film together later and that is about all we have planned for the day. Owner has kindly agreed that i can leave my chores etc until tomorrow...which is also when my weekly caning has been postponed to.

i hope you are all having an equally relaxing time?
