The Greatest Show on Earth

Just a quick reminder that tonight the UK city of Liverpool has the privilege of hosting this years Eurovision song contest final on behalf of Ukraine (winners of last years show). Owner and i will be watching it as usual, She lets me watch it every year [edit by Owner - you mean i am forced to endure it!] - even taking me to Vienna one year to watch it when that city hosted the final.

Eurovision is such a wonderfully camp and joyous event and the perfect reminder that, despite all the batshit misogny, racism, violence, intolerance and hate that is the daily white noise to our lives, despite that, most people are actually lovely. Even if you don't like all the songs just marvel at the outfits, the staging and the politics of the voting and have a good old, joyously fun, time. Still not convinced? Well, turn the whole event into an extended drinking game.

If you are new to Eurovision (and this year the WHOLE world gets to vote for the first time ever) then this article is a handy little guide. So, put of your make-up and your glad rags and get ready to enjoy the greatest show on Earth and be reminded that there is actually a lot that is good in the world. Owner and i will be watching, i hope you get an opportunity to do so too.

I just watched "Question Time" and they had some song suggestions at the very, very end of the program. :)

I imagine that they did. It was an enjoyable evening but gutted Finland didn't win.
